STEPHEN SALVATORE
I have lived in New York City since 1990. My work has appeared in various magazines, including Issue 22 of Black & White, a fine art photography monthly, and various issues of Psychology Today, and graced the cover of the first issue of the literary quarterly LIT.
I shoot in black & white as well as color. I’ve shot on film, both 35mm and medium format, as well as with digital equipment on city streets, in Nature, and in my studio.
My approach to photography is more intuitive than agenda driven. I shoot whatever attracts my gaze. Sometimes it is only when reviewing my work that I understand why I shot a particular subject. I am usually more interested in the aesthetics of a photograph, the way it looks or feels, than in any meaning or message it might convey, but I believe my body of work, taken as a whole, makes an implicit statement.
